Alexander Urbanism
Abu Dhabi Capital District
The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven states, founded by Sheik Zayed of Abu Dhabi in 1971. The federation does not currently have a capital city.
The emirate of Abu Dhabi has agreed to fund the creation of a capital district in the heart of the planned Abu Dhabi metropolitan area. The 4530 hectare site is planned to accommodate a federal government, the Abu Dhabi government and over 300,000 people. The estimated construction cost is $40bn.
While director of the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council, Nathan Alexander took the project from conceptual design options to an approved concept.
